Jimmy Carter Calls Obama Foe Racist

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 01:41 PM PDT

The U.S. president who schmoozed it up with Middle Eastern terrorists last year called a congressman's now famous outburst during Obama's speech racism rooted in fears of a black president.

Jimmy Carter, the only American commander-in-chief to participate in a hug fest with the head of the world's leading Middle Eastern terrorist group, claims South Carolina Republican Joe Wilson would not have disrupted a white president's speech.

Wilson made worldwide headlines for shouting out "You lie!" during Obama's health care address to a joint session of Congress last week and promptly apologized to the president for the outburst. Wilson objected to the part where Obama promised that his health care reform plan would not insure illegal immigrants.

Carter assures that Wilson's "dastardly" interruption proves there is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president. He further said that Wilson's spontaneous heat-of-the-moment comment was an aftershock of racist views that have permeated American politics for decades.

Now let's consider the source. Carter, who met with Hamas leaders in Syria last year, has publicly supported Palestinian extremism for years and justifies its violence as a reaction to Israeli apartheid. He was widely criticized—even by supporters and allies—for displaying "poor judgment" in meeting with Hamas Leader Khaled Meshal who runs his violent operation from Damascus to avoid being arrested by the Israeli government.

The sophisticated and well-funded Palestinian extremist group has for years appeared on the U.S. Department of State's list of foreign terrorist organizations and for a former commander in chief, or any western leader of Carter's stature, to meet with its leader is inconceivable. One might conclude that the race-baiting former president is un-American.

Public Records Destroyed In Boston

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 11:36 AM PDT

Officials in a major U.S. city continue destroying public records even though a judge ordered them to preserve the files last year because deleting them violates state law.

The mayor of Boston and his administration were warned by a state judge in November that city employees were breaking state public records laws by deleting electronic mail and ordered them to halt the practice. Massachusetts public records law requires municipal employees to save electronic correspondence for at least two years, even if the contents appear to have no informational or evidential value.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino keeps disregarding the law as well as the judge's order, however. A local newspaper reports that city employees, including the mayor's closest aide, continue deleting files that must be preserved. The problem of records destruction at City Hall is widespread and extends well beyond the mayor's top aide, according to the report.

The paper had sought the files through a public records request over the summer as it investigated a story involving the Boston Redevelopment Authority. The city agency had been sued by an advocacy group for failing to respond to public records requests for documents pertaining to the sale of a city parcel when the media became interested.

In response to that lawsuit, a Superior Court Judge (Ralph Gants) determined that city employees had been permitted to destroy electronic mail without keeping hard copies or backups. Thus, the Boston Redevelopment Authority "failed to comply with its obligation" in accordance with state law, the judge said in November.

Nearly a year later the illegal practice continues without consequences. The mayor's chief of policy planning admits he deletes e-mails every day to "tidy up" his inbox. The mayor evidently thinks his top assistant is dedicated and diligent in cleaning out his inbox, even if it violates state law.
