DOJ Grant To Empower Illegal Aliens

Posted: 22 Sep 2009 01:26 PM PDT

The U.S. Department of Justice has given a public university a special grant to help illegal immigrants in the Midwest and teach their employers, primarily in the meatpacking and construction industries, how to curb discrimination against foreign-born workers.

Indeed, the government agency charged with defending the nation's interests and enforcing the law is helping those who have violated it. The Justice Department is supposed to ensure public safety against foreign and domestic threats and seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior not reward them.

Instead, the agency has given the University of Iowa a $50,000 grant to help empower the illegal immigrant labor force that, according to a press release, substantially benefits significant Midwestern industries. The taxpayer money went to the school's Center for Human Rights, which plans to stop the exploitation of immigrant workers who are too often vulnerable to discrimination and unsafe working conditions.

Among other things, the school will use the cash to extend significant outreach activities to immigrant workforces in Iowa and Nebraska and provide educational opportunities to the business community relating to immigration law and the rights of foreign-born workers. Industries notorious for hiring illegal aliens, such as meatpacking and construction, will be heavily targeted.

The Justice Department has a history of protecting illegal immigrants and accommodating them in exchange for their testimony in the criminal prosecutions of U.S. law enforcement officers. The agency recently brought deported illegal aliens back to the U.S. to testify against an Arizona sheriff who enforces immigration law through a federal partnership.

A few years ago, Justice Department officials actually went into Mexico to give a drug dealer immunity to testify against two veteran Border Patrol agents who intercepted his U.S.-bound vehicle loaded with 743 pounds of marijuana. The admitted Mexican drug smuggler got shot trying to evade the federal officers and the Justice Department prosecuted both of them. Incredibly, the agents got convicted of causing serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm and violating the drug smuggler's civil rights.

Top Obama, Clinton Donor Charged With Multiple Fraud

Posted: 22 Sep 2009 08:45 AM PDT

Weeks after being arrested for a separate crime, the shady Iranian fundraiser who has donated huge sums to top Democrats—including the president, vice president and secretary of state—has been charged with defrauding several banks out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Less than a month ago investment banker Hassan Nemazee had Democratic leaders (Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton among them) scrambling to return tainted money amid fraud charges for lying about his assets to get a $74 million bank loan. Federal prosecutors say Namazee committed fraud by using forged documents listing fake accounts with collateral worth hundreds of millions of dollars to obtain the loan.

This week Nemazee was indicted for defrauding three financial institutions out of nearly $300 million in loan proceeds. Similar to the first case, prosecutors say Nemazee falsified documents and signatures to purportedly show he had hundreds of millions of dollars worth of collateral. He used the proceeds to donate big bucks to the campaigns of federal, state and local candidates.

For nearly a decade Nemazee has been a key figure in Democratic fundraising circles, donating and gathering hundreds of thousands of dollars for the party's most high-profile candidates and serving as national finance chairman of Hillary Clinton's failed 2008 presidential campaign as well as John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign.

He went on to raise more than half a million dollars for Obama after Clinton's primary defeat and donated the maximum ($50,000) allowed to the new president's inauguration committee. Less than a year ago Nemazee hosted a $28,500-a-head fundraiser for Obama in his luxurious Upper East Side New York penthouse.

It turns out that, for more than a decade, Nemazee projected the illusion of wealth by stealing more than $290 million, according to federal prosecutors. This allowed him to lead a lavish lifestyle and play the part of heavyweight political fundraiser, they say. Now he faces three decades in jail not to mention serious ditching by the politicians who gladly took his money over the years.

Clinton’s Criminal Housing Sec. To Clean Up ACORN

Posted: 22 Sep 2009 07:51 AM PDT

In what may seem like a bad joke, Bill Clinton's criminally indicted, tax-evading Housing Secretary has been tapped to investigate a fraud-infested community organization with strong ties to Barack Obama.

Henry Cisneros, an admitted criminal who pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI to cover payments to a mistress, may seem like a strange choice to weed out wrongdoing on any level yet that is what he has been recruited to do. The shamed Clinton cabinet member will conduct a probe of the notoriously corrupt Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), well known for voter fraud, embezzlement and cooking the books.

ACORN has been embroiled in numerous corruption cases lately, including countless voter registration fraud probes nationwide, the guilty plea of a high-ranking official for organizing a scheme that illegally paid workers (including "lazy crack heads") to register voters, housing fraud and videotapes of ACORN employees advising a prostitute and pimp on how to skirt housing and tax laws.

A congressional investigation recently determined that the Chicago-base leftist organization is a criminal enterprise, federal lawmakers have substantially cut its public funding and California's governor has called for an investigation of the group's widespread criminal activity in his state. Even Obama has thrown ACORN under the bus, although the group helped him get elected and he once worked there as a community organizer.

To ACORN's rescue comes Cisneros, a solidly crooked official who was indicted with nearly 20 counts of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and giving the feds false statements. A lengthy independent counsel investigation revealed that a cover up at senior levels of the Clinton Administration (Hillary's buddy was Internal Revenue Service commissioner and quashed the probe) killed a more serious tax fraud case against Cisneros, who made secret payments to his mistress before joining the cabinet.

Those who dare to predict the outcome of Cisneros' in-depth review of ACORN should know that he praises the group as an "important organization that does important work." He insists that ACORN has been instrumental in helping low-income families find affordable housing and that its positive work has been overshadowed by allegations of widespread voter fraud and undercover videos on conservative webs sites. He does, however, admit that ACORN "has some shaping up to do."
